Are you willing and ready to become a student of the love walk? If so, you need to know that it requires education and commitment.

We must have our minds renewed to what love really is. Love is tangible; it is not just a spiritual thing that cannot be seen or touched. It is evident to everyone who comes in contact with it. Love is a decision we make - a decision to treat people the way Jesus would treat them.

When we make a true commitment to walk in love, it usually causes a huge shift in our lifestyle. Many of our ways - our thoughts, our conversation, our habits - have to change. For instance, we may be accustomed to spending all our extra money on ourselves only to discover that walking in love requires that we spend it on others.

Love wants to Pay the Price

A love walk does not come easily or without personal sacrifice. Each time we choose to love someone, it will cost us something - time, money or effort. That's why we are told to count the cost before we make the commitment.

1 Corinthians 14:1 says, Eagerly pursue and seek to acquire [this] love [make it your aim, your great quest]...

The word pursue means 'to follow in an effort to capture or overtake." The word seek means "to try to find or discover; search for." In other words, we need to go after love with all our might and act as if we cannot live without it!

How to Nurture Your Desire to Love

There are different degrees of desire. We want many things in life, but there are only a few things we want so much that we are willing to sacrifice to have them.

If you and I want to learn about love, we will have to study it. We will have to read books about it, listen to teachings on it, familiarize ourselves with everything Jesus and the apostles said about it.

Look for love in action. Try to find someone who operates in love and study that individual. Watch how he or she handles people and difficult or tense situations. Observe how they give. Examine the fruit of their life.

I encourage you to view love as your first priority in life. Study it, seek it, pursue and acquire it, because God's word boldly tells us that we're nothing without it.

The Kingdom of God

funny gifs
Matthew 6:33
Seek first of all His kingdom and His righteousness and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.

Mark 4:30 - 31 says that the Kingdom of God is like a mustard seed.

Mark 4:3-8 says that the seed is the Word.

Hence, the Kingdom of God = The Word [Bible].

Therefore, seeking His Kingdom equals to seeking the Word.

2 Corinthians 5:21 says that for our sake God made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become the righteousness of God .

Thus, we who believe in Jesus Christ have been made the righteousness of God.

An example and testimony: George Mueller

George Mueller, a Christian evangelist, who lived in the 1800s, prayed in millions of dollars to establish some 117 schools which offered Christian education to over 120,000 children, many of them being orphans.

He made it a point to start each day with the Word.

Jesus Christ The Anointed One

Jesus Christ is the Anointed One.

Jesus, THE Messiah, Savior is the Anointed One.

What is Jesus the Messiah, Savior anointed to do?

Luke 4:18-19 provides the answer:

18 The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon Me, because He has anointed Me [the Anointed One, the Messiah] to preach the good news (the Gospel) to the poor; He has sent Me to announce release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to send forth as delivered those who are oppressed [who are downtrodden, bruised, crushed, and broken down by calamity],

19 To proclaim the accepted and acceptable year of the Lord [the day [a]when salvation and the free favors of God profusely abound.

Hence, in summary, Jesus Christ is anointed to save us in the following ways:

  1. To preach the good news to the poor;
  2. To announce the release to the captives
  3. To recover sight to the blind;
  4. To deliver those who are oppressed; that is, those who are downtrodden or condemned, bruised, crushed and broken down by calamity; and
  5. To proclaim the accepted and acceptable year of the Lord, that is, the day or season when salvation and the free favors of God profusely abound.

Remembering Jesus

Jesus said before His glorification to partake the Holy Communion in remembrance of Him, as often as we take it.

What of Jesus to remember?

Recall Jesus asked His disciples in Luke 9:18; "Now it occurred that as Jesus was praying privately, the disciples were with Him, and He asked them, Who do men say that I am?"

Then in Luke 9:20, Jesus asked; "And He said to them, But who do you [yourselves] say that I am? And Peter replied, The Christ of God!"

Remember Jesus as the Christ of God; The Messiah of God, the Savior of God. God, Abba Father, sent Jesus Christ to be THE Savior!

When I am sick, I remember Jesus healing the sick.

When I am poor, I remember Jesus multiplying the one loaf of bread and five fish to feed more than 5,000 with 12 basketful of leftovers.

When I am afraid, I remember Jesus saying "I AM; stop being frightened! [John 6:20].

Hence 2 Corinthians 3:18 begins to make some sense to me: "And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.".

Labor Pains

John 16:21-22 likened Jesus' disciples to a woman in labor.
21A woman, when she gives birth to a child, has grief (anguish, agony) because her time has come. But when she has delivered the child, she no longer remembers her pain (trouble, anguish) because she is so glad that a man (a child, a human being) has been born into the world.

22So for the present you are also in sorrow (in distress and depressed); but I will see you again and [then] your hearts will rejoice, and no one can take from you your joy (gladness, delight).

John 16:33 is the epidural:
I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]
This series of free pregnancy e-books serves to give an idea of the pregnancy experience. Very suited for men. May this series help in relating better to John 16:21-22 when we experience labor pains in our Christian walk. For a start, may it help the men love and appreciate their wives just that little bit more.
